How to Make Half Square Triangles using the 4 at a Time Method

This Half Square Triangle  (HST) method makes four HST at a time.  This method is best for making greater numbers of HST, however the edges of the finished HST are cut on the bias.

Preparation:

Download your FREE copy of the HST Cheat Sheet.  The cheat sheet includes a fabric cutting guide and step by step instructions.

Decide on the size of HST needed and cut the fabric as per the cheat sheet.

Steps to Make HST – 4 at a Time Method

To make Half Square Triangles (HST) via the 4 at a time method, follow these steps.

Step 1: Place two squares of fabric right sides together.

Step 2: Sew a scant quarter inch seam around all 4 edges.

Step 3: Cut from corner to corner along both diagonals.

Step 4: Open the four HST out and press the seams. Trim the HST to the size required (unfinished size).
