How to Make Half Square Triangles using the 2 at a Time Method

This Half Square Triangle  (HST) method makes two HST at a time.  This method is best for smaller numbers of HST.

Preparation:

Download your FREE copy of the HST Cheat Sheet.  The cheat sheet includes a fabric cutting guide and step by step instructions.

Decide on the size of HST needed and cut the fabric as per the cheat sheet.

Steps to Make HST – 2 at a Time Method

To make Half Square Triangles (HST) via the 2 at a time method, follow these steps.

Step 1: Place two squares of fabric right sides together. Draw a diagonal line across the top square.

Step 2: Sew a scant quarter inch seam to either side of the drawn line.

Step 3: Cut along the drawn diagonal line to separate the two halves.

Step 4: Open the two HST out and press the seams. Trim the HST to the size required (unfinished size).
